How Adding A Spiral Freezer Can Enhance Your Food Industry Goals

Carrie Gomez

When meeting your food goals in your industry, the ability to quickly freeze common food items for quick and safe transport is key, in part, to your success. If your business has grown enough to where you need to start investing in equipment that can help you maintain food quality before you ship items out, then consider getting a spiral freezer.

Learn what spiral freezer systems are and how they can be beneficial to you in meeting and enhancing your food industry goals. You can invest in a single spiral freezer or a much larger spiral freezer system, depending on your production and inventory needs.

What are spiral freezer systems?

A spiral freezer is similar in shape to a food dehydrator, only on a much, much larger scale. The purpose of spiral freezer systems is to quickly freeze whatever food item is placed inside it, such as commonly fruits and vegetables and even meats and other items.

The spiral freezer works by having a belt that works all the way up to the top of the system, freezing food and other inventory in a cryogenic fashion along the way. Food products go into the spiral freezer on the bottom level, usually via a moving belt, and then spiral up and up through the freezer until freezing has completed. Then the inventory comes out on the same belt at the top to continue on to the next part of the manufacturing and packing process.

Why add a spiral freezer to your equipment list?

Imagine being able to fully send bags of fresh produce, dessert items, fish and seafood, and other food items you need to be frozen through a belt, into a freezer, and then out the other side, completely ready to be packaged the rest of the way and shipped out. No waiting times for food to freeze and less stagnant times on the product line are all what a spiral freezer investment is about.

You can get multiple spiral freezer systems in your building so you can keep seafood and other products away from one another for a more allergy-friendly facility or you can simply have more than one spiral freezer so you can move several items through a belt line at once. The investment in a spiral freezer can mean more time spent on securing orders and getting product out the door and onto retail shelves and in refrigeration units and less time mass-freezing the items you have waiting to be shipped out.
